Cost Optimization
Cost Optimization
SkySaver’s Cost Optimization features help you identify and act on opportunities to reduce your AWS spend. Recommendations are sourced from AWS Cost Optimization Hub, which continuously analyzes your usage patterns and generates savings estimates based on your actual workloads.
How It Works
- The Cost Explorer automation collects cost and usage data from your connected AWS accounts
- AWS Cost Optimization Hub analyzes your workloads against available savings options
- SkySaver surfaces those recommendations in the How Can I Save? section of the Dashboard, grouped by category with estimated savings
Recommendation Categories
| Category | What It Covers |
|---|---|
| Rightsizing | Instances or databases running at oversized configurations for their workload |
| Idle Resources | Resources with minimal usage that may be candidates for termination or downtime scheduling |
| Commitments | Opportunities to save with Savings Plans or Reserved Instances based on your usage patterns |
| Storage | Underutilized EBS volumes, S3 buckets that could benefit from tiering, and other storage savings |
Prerequisites
- The Cost Explorer automation must be enabled
- AWS Cost Optimization Hub must be enabled in your AWS account(s)
- At least a few days of cost data must be collected before recommendations appear
